It’s Almost Fall, Ya’ll!! Let’s Talk Comfort Food Finds!

on September 7, 2016

In Northwest Arkansas the temps are starting to dip, but that’s enough to make me crave everything Fall! I LOVE Fall. The weather not only makes being outdoors more comfortable but things around us seem to be more comforting- the colors of nature, everyone’s clothing and most importantly The Food!  I’m not talking about Pumpkin Spice everything, I’m talking about foods that make me feel like I’m being wrapped up in a soft, warm blanket when eating them. So, I went on a mission to find a few of the best Fall Comfort Foods in Bentonville restaurants to share (I know, hard job!!). I hope ya’ll get a chance to try some of these amazing dishes and fill your belly and your soul with Fall comfort!

The Hive Hog ChopThe Hive at 21C – 200 NE A Street, Bentonville, AR

A great pork chop that is both thick AND juicy is hard to find, but no worries, the Berkshire Hog Chop will not disappoint. It has amazing flavor and juiciness that you won’t want to stop eating! If you still have room (and even if you don’t) you must order the rustic and comforting Pecan Pie with Buttermilk Ice Cream that provides a perfect warm and gooey finish.

Tavola Trattoria – 108 SE A Street, Bentonville, AR

To me there is nothing better than a great bowl of soup on a crisp day and the Crostini Tomato Sage Soup Topped with Crème Fraiche provides just that! Next, indulge in their Crab Macaroni and Cheese, the ultimate comfort food with a unique twist! Top your meal off with the Poached Chianti Pear with house-made vanilla ice cream in a pool of Warm Chocolate for the ultimate sweet ending!

Table Mesa Bistro – 108 E Central Ave, Bentonville, AR

Butternut squash is one of my favorite Fall ingredients and the Butternut Squash Enchiladas provide that amazing flavor in a unique way. This is one of my favorite dishes at Table Mesa all year, but it definitely fits into the comfort food category!

Freds hickory innFred’s Hickory Inn – 1502 N. Walton Blvd, Bentonville, AR

The environment inside Fred’s is rustic and comforting all by itself. But, I recommend ordering the Taste of Fred’s dish so you’ll get to try a little of a lot of comfort – Ribs, Smoked Sirloin, Smoked Pork Loin and AMAZING House-Made Andouille Sausage that will leave you wanting more. I substituted the Mac and Cheese for my side and I would describe it as more of a cheese fondue with noodles… and that is a very, very good thing. This is a lot of food, so you can definitely share this one!

Tusk and Trotter – 110 SE A Street, Bentonville, AR

Comfort food choices are all over this menu, but you can’t go wrong ordering the Fried Chicken and Waffles. The fried chicken is divine and it’s served with carrot cake waffles that are topped with gravy. This dish provides the perfect balance of savory and sweet on the same plate.

lobster bisque in bread bowl2 (2)Blu Fresh Fish Marketplace – 607 SE 5th Street, Bentonville, AR

Steaming Maine Lobster Bisque is the perfect way to get cozy on a chilly day. And it’s a no-brainer to order it in a bread bowl, which they will be offering around the beginning of October. With chunks of fresh lobster, every bite will feel like a big, warm hug.

William’s Soul Food – 3404 SE Macy Rd, Bentonville, AR

This is a casual restaurant serving up authentic southern-style cooking, the kind I grew up with! Yes, another fried chicken recommendation, but when it comes to comfort food in the south, that’s a given! Order their Fried Chicken Dish and your choice of sides, you really can’t go wrong with any of them!

Bizzy B’s Bakery – 1501 SE Walton Blvd, Bentonville, AR

Growing up in a home where Homemade Cinnamon Rolls were a cold-weather staple, I always start craving them in the Fall. Order one (or five) at Bizzy B’s and ask them to warm ’em up for extra, gooey goodness!

I hope everyone enjoys their Fall and has a chance to try some of the amazing comfort foods offered in our local restaurants! Cheers!
